That is the tittle of an article I have just publised with Bridget McKenzie in the last issue of the ECSITE newletter about Nature in the urban context. The article is drawn from the chapter 11 of my thesis. It is about displaying climate change at the Science Museum in London. Photo : Duncan Geere In December [...]

I have a very long to-write-list. I am supposed to write many blog posts, research papers and press articles. I have always new ideas and I constantly meet people I would like to write something with but there is still only 24 hours a day. So my list becomes longer and longer. Recently I found [...]

Last but not least, here is the third and last story of my series “Lost in London and the world wide web” (read first and second episodes). I was supposed to be in London to write a research article, block out on everything else. However, because sometimes things don’t go as fast as you wish, I also had to work on a benchmark report for a science centre which wants to know all about museums and exhibitions about water and new ways to engage people with science and environment. I was working on that report and I thought I should mention Talkaoke.

As I wrote before, I spent two weeks in London in June. I was staying as an academic visitor at King’s College to write a research paper from my thesis. Unsurprisingly, it is about museums and climate change. Since I was in London, I took the opportunity to meet people related with this both topics. I have met members of Museum3, a social network dedicated to museums professionals. Some would think that Museum3 is a bit specific (it is). Another unexpected encounter came through a more widely spread professional social network : LinkedIn.

I have just spent 2 weeks in London. I ran away from my busy Parisian life for a while in order to write a research article. I finished my PhD 6 months ago. Now I should write and publish articles from my thesis otherwise I will never do it. That would be a shame after spending so much time and energy to achieve this work and a 400-pages dissertation read by only few highly-motivated people. So that’s why I ended up in London as visitor academic at King’s College.

Today I am attending a conference about digital humanities and social science called “In the net of social media” (it’s my personnal translation of the French title “Dans la toile des médias sociaux”) at the German History Institute in Paris. The conference is organized by the Institute and Cléo, the centre for the open digital edition. Pierre [...]
